MEMORIALS
THE FAMILY PREFERS memorial contributions for the Tammy L. De Heer memorial fund, in lieu of flowers.

Tammy Lynn DeHeer was born December 21, 1970, in Pella, Iowa to Shirley Marie (Garden) and Donald Dean DeHeer. Tammy graduated from Pella Community High School in 1989. During high school, she was involved in Color Guard, French Club, Choir Club and Spanish Club. She began her career at Pella Corporation in 1989. While working there, she continued her education taking college courses. She held various jobs in manufacturing and then later in the IT Department. Tammy married Jeffrey Allen Helle on July 6, 2005, and to this union a son, Donovan Dalen, and a daughter, Joeley Sedella, were born. Tammy belonged to several organizations and served her community with all her heart. Tulip Time was one of her favorite times of the year and she actively volunteered her time. She was the organizer of the Tulip Time Dutch Market held at West Market Park, with the help of the Pella Business Women’s non-profit organization of which she served in all levels of leadership. For several years prior to that, she and her very good friend, Stacy De Jong, managed the small Information Windmill located in Central Park during the festivals. She loved watching, interacting and meeting with new people.
Tammy enjoyed reading and loved antique collecting, gardening, and raising animals. One of her special talents was planning for a large party in a short period of time. She was baptized at the First Baptist Church and affiliated with both the First Baptist Church and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pella. On January 15, 2014, Donovan was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and her life changed significantly. She and Donovan took it head on and day by day. From this, she became an active member in supporting JDRF at Pella Corporation. She was also an advocate for all local families of Type 1 diabetics and was always willing to share learnings, experiences and technology with them. She and Donovan were also active with fundraising for Camp Hertko Hollow, an annual camp focusing on children with Type 1 diabetes. Her quote that she referred to is “Don’t count the days, make the days count” and that is what she did. Tammy loved her family and you always see that license plate that said “TAMMS” flying all over the place hauling her children from one activity to another. She would be yelling for her boy and golf clapping for her girl. Tammy loved everyone and would always find the best in them. Tammy would never spare any words and if she had something to tell you, whether you liked it or not, she would tell you. In September, 2019, Tammy was diagnosed with metastatic triple negative breast cancer and since then has been hospitalized. On June 29, 2020, she passed away peacefully at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella at the age of 49 years. During all this time, her faithful husband, Jeff, never spent a night at their home.

She was known by many and will truly be missed by her husband, Jeff, and their two children: Donovan and Joeley and her family. They are:
