September 3, 1951 ~ July 21, 2020 (age 68)Daniel Patrick “Pat” McGill, 68, of rural Mingo died on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at his home. A private family service will be held on Friday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The service will be live streamed on the funeral home’s Facebook page at 11:00 a.m. for those wanting to support the family on that day. Memorials to Suncrest Hospice may be left at the funeral home.
Pat, the son of Daniel and Kathryn (McDermott) McGill, was born on September 3, 1951 in Newton. He grew up in the Mingo area and graduated from Mingo High School in 1970. He then attended DMACC where he would meet Terrie Cunningham. Pat and Terrie were married on October 27, 1972 at the Catholic Cathedral in downtown Des Moines. They made their home in rural Mingo. Pat farmed for the first 12 years of their marriage and then worked as a carpenter for the Local 106. Later Pat worked in skilled trades for the Maytag Company for 25 years, retiring in 2007. He was a past member of the Mingo Men’s Club. Pat enjoyed golfing at the Colfax Golf Club, playing cards, and going to the Ike’s. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed cheering on the Chicago Cubs.
Those left to honor Pat’s memory are his wife, Terrie McGill of Mingo; children, Daniel (Michelle) McGill of Colfax, Melissa (Coleman) Bell of Omaha, and Kevin (Jackie) McGill of Des Moines; grandchildren, Morgan, Miranda, and John McGill, Sullivan and Rowan Bell, and Kodey and Deegan McGill; and his sisters, including his twin sister, Patricia (Rocky) Skidmore of Des Moines, Margaret (Randy) Cleverley of Maxwell, and Helen (Andy) Polito of Chandler, Arizona.
