Colfax – Clyde W. Brown, 97, of Colfax died of heart failure Tuesday, June 4, at Careage of Newton.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax with Father Phil Cardenzana officiating. Burial will be at McKeever Cemetery in Colfax. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax is handling arrangements.
Family will visit with friends Friday in the church fellowship hall following the burial. Memorials will be accepted to Colfax Volunteer Fire Department.
The son of William C. and Margaret (Savage) Brown, he was born Oct. 25, 1904, in Jasper County. On July 25, 1925, he married Sadie Isaccson in Des Moines. He owned Brownie’s Café in Colfax and was in the trucking business with his son Bob. Mr. Brown was a member of the Immaculate conception Catholic Church in Colfax and a member of the Colfax Volunteer Fire Department for 50 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and an Iowa Hawkeye fan.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Josephine Brown of Thornton, Colo., Bob and Joyce Brown of Colfax and Don and Glenda Brown of Newton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Marcella Vochum of Urbandale and Shirley and Howard Williams Jr. of Colfax; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
