November 20, 1930 ~ July 6, 2020 (age 89)

R. V. Smith,89, of Covington, Georgia; formerly of Newton was the son of Thurman B. and Edna F. Yancy Smith; he was born on November 20, 1930 in Oxford, Arkansas. He died surrounded by the love of his family on Monday, July 6, 2020, at his home in Covington.

On April 21, 1951, R. V. was united in marriage with Freda M. Grimes in Batesville, Arkansas. They were blessed with four children, Wayne, Sue, Gene and Melissa. He was a mechanic at Gralnek-Dunitz Co. in Newton for many years.

Those left to honor R. V.’s memory are his wife, Freda of Covington, Georgia; children, Wayne (Carol) Smith of Newton, Sue (Brian) Smith of Oskaloosa, Gene (Lynisa) Smith of Newton and Melissa (Bobby) Williamson of Covington, Georgia; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A PRIVATE FAMILY burial will be held at the Sugar Grove Cemetery in rural Newton.
