Donald Wayne Camp, 68, of Newton, died of heart failure, Wednesday December 15, at his home.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 18, at Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton with the Rev. Larry Spader, senior pastor, officiating. Burial was at McKeever Cemetery in rural Colfax. Memorials in Mr. Camp’s name will be accepted.
The son of Abe Jackson and Sarah Ann Hughes Camp, he was born February 2, 1931, in Colfax. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1949. He married Patricia Ann Hildebrand May 27, 1951 in Newton.
A lifelong resident of Jasper County, he moved from Colfax to Newton 44 years ago. Mr. Camp was employed by Winpower in Newton for 37 years, Farmhand in Grinnell for seven years and was also employed in the hardware department by Wal-Mart in Newton. He was a member of the UAW Local No 997 and Newton Community Heights Alliance Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ronald W. of Newton and Abe L. of Davenport; four daughters, Bonnie Kay Sebold of Wasau, Wisconsin, Dixie Lee Hoagland of Logansport, Indiana, Melissa Ann Hawk of Newton and Becky Sue Camp of Chaska, Minnesota; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
