Wilda Byal Services Held On Sunday
Funeral services for Wilda Byal, 88, of Colonial Manor in Baxter, were held Sunday, Oct. 23, at the Walters Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.
The Rev. John McKinstry, pastor of the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax, conducted services. Burial was in the Union Chapel Cemetery near Mingo.
The organist was Phyllis Faidley.
Casket bearers were Douglas Byal, Wayne Byal, James Byal, Steve Comer, Richard Freeland, and Craig Petermeier.
She died Thursday, Oct. 20, at Colonial Manor.
Survivors are two brothers, Hugh B. Byal of Mingo and Roscoe Byal of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Geneva.
Miss Byal, a teacher for 50 years, 20 of which were in Colfax, was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax, Order of Eastern Star, and P.E.O.
The daughter of William J. and Mittie Miller Byal, she was born June 9, 1900 in Mingo and was graduated from Des Moines High School and Drake University in Des Moines.
Miss Byal was a teacher in both the elementary and junior high school at Colfax and also served as elementary principal.
