Mrs. Lulu Winpegler Died Saturday
Funeral Services Were Held Tuesday From Christian Church.
Mrs. Lulu Winpegler, long time resident of this city, died Saturday at the home of her son Ivan Binkerd in Washington Township.
Mrs. Winpegler, who had been making her home at the Grand Hotel, became too ill to care for herself and a week before her death was taken to the son's home.
Lulu Vada Huffaker was born in De Sota, Dallas county, Iowa, October 12, 1871, and passed away at the home of her son, Ivan Binkerd, March 8, 1947, at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 26 days.
She moved to Colfax with her parents at a very early age and she has resided here since that time.
In 1888 she was united in marriage to Joseph S. Binkerd and to this union three sons were born, Ivan, Chester and Maynard, all of this city. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 2, 1897.
In 1912 she was married to Byron Winpegler, who also preceded her in death on June 6, 1944.
She was a member of the Colfax Christian Church and attended faithfully until ill health prevented further active participation in church work. She was also a member of the Women's Relief Corps.
She leaves to mourn her passing her three sons and nine grandchildren. Her main interests in life were her home, her family and her many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Christian Church with the Rev. W. Goughnour officiating.
Mrs. George Rinker, Mrs. George Robinson, Mary Faith Jones and Eleanor Howell provided the music and Mrs. Harold Hall, Mrs. George Rinker and Mrs. Tom Grundy were in charge of the flowers.
Pall bearers were E. G. Carlson, George Rinker, George Stover, Jesse Beard, Ralph Woods and Tom Hughes.
Interment was in the McKeever Cemetery. ~ Colfax Mar 1947
