A Wife and Mother Taken

There is a sad home in Sherman Township because of the death of her who was both wife and mother. It was Mrs. Lawson Watt, who, after a long and pailful illness, was released from it all last Wednesday, March 22, 1899. She had been bedfast since before Christmas, an ailment being consumption of the bowels.

Her maiden name was Halliwill. She and Mr. Watt were married October 1, 1896. A little daughter, Irene, came to bless their home in the summer of 1897.

It was just last Fall that the family moved in a pretty and comfortable new home, and so they were well prepared to enjoy life with many material blessings. But their plans and hopes were changed by the entrance of sickness and afterwards death. The father and baby daughter have the sincere sympathy of many friends. the funeral took place on Friday. ~ Newton Journal, Newton, Iowa, May 29, 1899
