Funeral of Mr. Waring

The funeral of John C. Waring, whose death at his home near Reasnor was mentioned last week, was held Thursday afternoon. There was a large attendance of neighbors and friends and Rev. Stiles preached a very impressive funeral sermon.

Mr. Waring was born in New York in 1846 and lived there until 1865 when he came west to Mahaska County, Iowa. The following year he was married to Miss Mattie Crea who with seven children survive the deceased.

He had made his home in Jasper County since 1872. For over ten years he was engaged in the lumber and grain business in Reasnor. Mr. Waring was one of the best men in Jasper County and highly regarded by all his neighbors and friends. ~ The Newton Record Thursday, November 30, 1899
