Catherine Warburton, 92, of 500 1st St. N., died of heart failure Wednesday evening, March 5, at Park Centre.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Newton with the Rev. David Taymond, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton after 1 p.m. Friday where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Memorials to the Congregational United Church of Christ will be accepted.

Mrs. Warburton was born Sept. 19, 1904, in Malcom, the daughter of Murry and Blanche Hannon Wilson. She graduated from Newton High School with the Class of 1922.

A lifelong resident of Jasper County, she married LLoyd Scoville Feb. 24, 1926, in Newton. Following his death in 1964, she married John Warburton in September 1970 in Cedar Rapids.

Mrs. Warburton was employed at the Newton National Bank for 37 years, retiring as a teller trustee. She was a life member of the Newton Chapter $100 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of the Nazareth White Shrine #37 P.E.O Chapter AC and the Congregational United Church of Christ.

She is survived by a daughter, Roma Lee (Mrs. Richard) Blackwood of rural Newton' a daughter-in-law, Ardyce Scoville of Cedar Rapids; a step-daughter, Mary Jean Anderson, of Denver, Colo; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, who died Dec. 4, 1964; her second husband, who died March 8, 1990; a son, Richard, who died in August 1995; two brothers, John and Don Wilson; three sisters, Vera Johnson, Thera Appleby and Grace Israel; and a step-son, John W. Warburton Jr, who died in December 1994. ~ Newton Daily News March 1997
