CHARLES CITY - Neil T. Vermillion, 43, of Charles City, formerly of Newton, died Monday, Feb. 7, at Floyd Community Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 3:30 to 9 p.m. today and Friday morning at the church one hour prior to services. Memorials to the Charles City Elks or Jacyee programs for youth will be accepted.
The son of Bill and Marjorie Myers Vermillion, he was born Sept. 7, 1956, in Newton. He graduated from Newton High School in 1975 and played in the Shrine Football Game.
He was employed for 20 years as a lineman by Mid America Energy. Mr. Vermillion was a member of the Charles City Jaycees, in which he served as governor in 1993 and he was the exalted ruler of the BPO Elks No. 418 in Charles City in 1994.
Survivors include a son, Brandon of Charles City; a daughter, Melissa Vermillion of Charles City; his fiancé, Vickie Arp of Charles City and her three children, Sarah, James and Nathan Pieschke; his parents of Kellogg; and two brothers, Dave of Portland, Ore. And Steve of Nicasio, Calif.
