B. F. Krueger Dies at Baxter; Rites Tuesday
Baxter – Bernhard Frederick Krueger, 69, lifelong resident of Baxter, died Saturday at Colonial Manor in Baxter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethany United Church of Christ near Baxter.
The Rev. Harold R. Behle, minister of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Bethany Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the Bethany United Church of Christ or the Jasper County Retarded Children’s Association will be accepted.
Boyd-Nickell Funeral Home in Baxter is handling arrangements.
Surviving are his widow, Viola; three sons, Dean, Edgar and William, all of Baxter; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Ruth) Meller of Rhodes; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Mr. Krueger was a member of the Bethany United Church of Christ at Baxter and served on the church consistory for a number of years.
He was a charter member of the Baxter Lion’s Club, charter member of the Iowa Flying Farmers and had served on various farm organizations and the Baxter board of education, and was a board director for a number of years of the Mission House Seminary in Plymouth, Wis.
He was baptized Jan. 13, 1901, at the Bethany United Church of Christ and was confirmed March 28, 1915.
The son of Henry and Louisa Fricke Krueger, he was born Oct. 29, 1900, northeast of Baxter and attended the Bethany School and a two-year short course at Iowa State university in Ames.
He was married to Viola Kanne Feb. 18, 1925, in Baxter.
