Howard Jones Dies Tuesday; Rites Friday
Howard J. Jones, 63, 205 E. 19th St. N., a lifelong resident of the Newton area, died Tuesday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. William C. Hamilton, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church, will officiate and burial will be in Palo Alto Cemetery near Newton.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today.
Surviving are his widow, Nellie; two sisters, Mrs. Willis (Juanita) Grant of Newton and Mrs. Howard (Frances Betty) Brokaw of Long Beach, Calif.; a brother, Rex Jones of Ventura, Calif.; and his mother, Mrs. Alice Jones of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his father, three brothers and a sister.
Mr. Jones, who was an employe of the Maytag Co. for approximately 35 years prior to his retirement May 30, 1969, was a member of the First Christian Church and the Maytag 25-Year Club.
The son of Arthur and Alice Spohn Jones, he was born May 20, 1907 in Jasper County and attended Jasper County schools.
He was married to Nellie Gardner Oct. 31, 1936 at Albia.
