Obituary - Howard S. Durbin

METZ -- Short private funeral services were held at the Sugar Grove cemetery Saturday for Howard S. Durbin, 58, who died July 5 at Los Angeles, Calif. The body was cremated and the ashes shipped to Davenport and later to the final resting place.

Howard made his former home five miles west of Newton and is the son of the late Scott Durbin.

He is survived by a son, Scott, and a daughter, La Rue, of Los Angeles, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Albert Hartwig of Davenport and a nephew, Walter Warner of Davenport.

Out of town relatives attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hartwig and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Warner and two sons of Davenport. ~ Jasper County Record, August 25, 1938, page 4, column 3.
