Sudden Death of John H. PatchenPatchen, John H.
John Patchen, a prominent farmer of Washington Township, near Mitchellville, died very suddenly and under peculiar circumstances at Ocheyedan, this state, last Sunday morning. He has been managing several threshing machines in Osceola County, and for a few days had been taking treatment of a physician at whose home he was stopping, but had not been bedfast at all.
Sunday morning about 11 o’clock he was discovered dead in his room with the door locked. The coroner’s jury rendered a verdict that cause of death was unknown. It is said that Mr. Patchen carried a large amount of life insurance.
The remains were brought to Mitchellville for interment. Deceased was a good man and an enterprising, honorable citizen, whose death is mourned by a large circle of friends in Jasper County.
