Hugh Parker, 77, Dies at Hospital; Rites ThursdayHugh James Parker
Hugh James Parker, 77, Mingo, lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Monday afternoon at Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Loehr Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. Laurence Garrett, minister of the United Methodist Church, Colfax, will officiate. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Wednesday. The casket will be closed at the time of the services and will not be reopened.
Surviving are his widow, Ethel; a son, Robert of Colfax; six grandchildren; a brother, Roy Parker, Newton, and two sisters, Mrs. Gwendolyn Thode, Des Moines, and Mrs. Gladys Skinner, Nevada.
He was preceded in death by a son, a brother and a sister.
The son of Edward and Elizabeth Rippey Parker, he was born Sept. 7, 1891, in Jasper County and was educated in Jasper County schools.
He was married to Ethel Emmack Oct. 4, 1916, at the home of the bride in Newton.
