Murdock, Anna R. (Rankin)

Died, Saturday, July 7th, at four o'clock p. m., at her home two miles southwest of Newton, Mrs. Anna Rankin Murdock. She was born Aug. 6, 1837, in Murkirk, Scotland. Was married Feb. 17, 1851, to James Murdock; eleven children were born to them, four of whom survive her: Wm., Archie, James and Hugh.

The remains were laid to rest Tuesday in the Wild Cat (Palo Alto) Cemetery. Grandma Murdock has lived in Palo Alto Township with her grandson for nearly twenty years. The community in which she lived for so many years, which knew her so well and loved her so much, shares with the near relations the feeling of loss and sympathy that goes out from so many hearts. She was a member of the Church of Scotland, a woman of the highest Christ and character. She was always younger than her years; she tried to cheer the world, not sadden it - that was one of her virtues. It was ever a pleasure to visit her in her earthly home and as our kind heavenly Father has called her to those mansions above, we expect to try and meet her there.

She has gone, she has gone,
To the regions of light.
She was with us today,
She's in heaven tonight;
Tho' to part with our dear mother,
'Twas a trial severe:
Tho' tis better that she is beyond,
Than here.
