In speaking with her daughter on several occasions she expressed a willingness to depart and be with Christ and the dear ones gone before. In her extreme suffering she was never heard to murmur nor complain only said "I hate so bad to leave you all but I am ready when the Lord calls me to go." She was converted and joined the M.E. Her husband, William Montgomery died on March 1, 1862 of cancer, was a member of the M.E. ===============================================

To The Memory of Our Mother.

I shine in the light of God,
His likeness stamps my brow.
Through the showdown of death by feet have trod,
And I reign in glor now.

No breaking heart is here,
No keen and thrilling pain,
No wasted cheek though the frequent tear
Hath felled and left its pain.

I have found the joys of heaven,
I am one of the angel band.
To my head a crown of gold is given
And a harp is in my hand.

I have learned the songs they sing
Whom Jesus hath set free.
And the glorious walls of heaven shall ring
With my new born melody.

No sin, no grief, no pain,
Safe in my happy home.
My fears all fled my doubts all slain
My hour of truth to come.

Oh, friends of mortal years,
The trusted and the true,
Ye are walking still in the vale of tears
But I wait to welcome you.

Do I forget, Oh no!
For memory’s golden chain
Still binds my heart to my friends below,
Until we meet again.

Each link is strong and bright
And loves electric flame
Flows freely down like a river of light
To the world from which I came.

Then why should your tears flow down
And your hearts be sorely riven
For another gem in the glorious crown
And another soul in heaven.
