KELLOGG — Claire E. Miller, 80, of Kellogg died of respiratory failure Friday, Dec. 28, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Christian Reformed Church in Newton with the Rev. Mark Bennink officiating. Burial will be at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church when family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the Christian Reformed Church or to the Kellogg Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Service and may be left at the church on the day of the service or at the funeral home.

The son of Clyde and Marie Tish Miller, he was born Jan. 23, 1922, in Searsboro. He was a 1940 graduate of Kellogg High School. On June 29, 1945, he married Johanna Oudshoorn in Sully. He was a lifelong resident of Kellogg. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Mr. Miller retired from the Maytag Company as a security guard after 10 years. He had worked for Midwest Manufacturing in Kellogg for many years, for the United States Post Office in Kellogg for 18 years and had been an agent for the AID Insurance Company in Kellogg. He was a member of the Christian Reformed Church, VFW Post 1655, American Legion in Laurel, DAV and AARP, enjoyed fishing, hunting and sports.

Survivors include his wife, four sons, Rick of Dixon, Mo., Terry of Newton, Brad of Saipan, China, and Jeff of Dunedin, Fla., two daughters, Char Miller of Des Moines and Diana Miller of Newton, 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a sister, Esther Barr of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
