FORMER RESIDENT DIES APRIL 8TH AT MARSHALLTOWN

A former Grinnell resident, Leonard McGinty, 56, of Marshalltown, died suddenly Monday, April 8, while at work.

Born April 14, 1900, at Des Moines, he was the son of Elias and Hannah Mabel McGinty. He spent the early part of his life in Des Moines and Grinnell where he received his education and grew to manhood.

On April 4, 1923, he was married to Inga Hanson of Grinnell at Marshalltown. The family lived in Grinnell, Cedar Rapids and Newburg until 1941 when they moved to Marshalltown, where he was employed by the General Experessways, Inc., for the past 16 years.

Mr. McGinty was a member of the First Methodist church and the AFL Teamsters Union Local 790.

Preceding him in death were his wife in 1949, his parents, a sister, and a brother.

Surviving are two sons, Carl and Charles, both of Marshalltown, and two grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Charles and Clarence, and a sister, Mrs. Murphy Ard, all of Cedar Rapids.

Services were held at Marshalltown on April 11 with the Rev. R. P. Anderson of the Methodist church officiating. Interment was at the Riverside cemetery.
