A Young Man Meets a Horrible Death Returning
From Des Moines last Sunday Night
McGregor, Harvey

A terrible accident occurred Sunday night as the train, loaded with excursionists, was returning from Camp McKinley, and Harvey McGregor, a young merchant of Turner Station, was ushered into eternity without a moment's warning. The train was crowded full and even on the platforms every foot of space was occupied. Harvey undertook to climb to the top of a coach when, in some way, he lost his hold and was instantly hurled from the rapidly moving train. When his body was picked up it was found that his neck was broken and that death had been instantaneous. The accident occurred at Hibbs' crossing, between Mitchellville and Colfax, almost at the same place where Chandler Cook met his death several years ago.

Harvey's age was between 21 and 22 years. He was the eldest son of Laws McGregor, a commission and second hand dealer of Grinnell. He was an industrious young man and by his own saving had accumulated sufficient to purchase the stock of a small store at Turner and was doing a good business. He was a cousin of Mrs. J. H. Smith of this city, who attended the funeral in Grinnell Tuesday afternoon.
