Barb died Wednesday morning, January 8, 2010, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.

Barbara J. Van Wyngarden, 69, was born the daughter of Wilbur Harold and Jennie (VanNorden) VanSant, on April 12, 1950 in Newton. She was a graduate of Lynnville-Sully Senior High, Class of 1968.

On May 12, 1970, Barb was united in marriage with Larry Duane Van Wyngarden in Newton. To this union two children were born: Steve and Suzy. Barb was employed by the Lynnville-Sully Schools in Food Service. She enjoyed her grandchildren, hot air ballooning, her cats, the outdoors, NASCAR, and attending Newton Church of the Way. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Barb is survived by her children: Steve (Amanda) Van Wyngarden of Newton and Suzy (Joel) Foley of Lewiston, Idaho; her six grandsons; a sister Marcy Morrison; a brother Willard VanSant; her nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; and her many good neighbors and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Larry Duane Van Wyngarden on May 10, 2017; and a nephew Brett.

A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at the Newton Church of the Way, with a visitation Monday evening, Jan. 13, 4:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the church. The Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, have been entrusted with the arrangements. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Barb's family or a charity of your choosing.
