An Esteemed Citizen and Honored Veteran Summoned to the Last Great Roll Call Heart Failure the Cause
Laughlin, J. L.

J. L. Laughlin, a prominent farmer living about four miles south of Prairie City, died very suddenly of heart failure about 1 o’clock Monday, Nov. 11. Mr. Laughlin loaded up a large load of potatoes Monday morning, getting very warm in doing so, and took them to Prairie City. After unloading them he went to Bryan & Son’s store, and exclaimed, “I am very sick.” He was immediately taken to Charles Bryan’s home, where he died in a few minutes. Medical aid was summoned but was of no avail.

Mr. Laughlin was an active member of the Christian Church and a veteran of the Union Army.
