Thelma Ruby Krumm

Mrs. Thelma Ruby Krumm, 61, the wife of Marion Krumm of 308 Main St., Grinnell, passed away at a Mobile, Ala., hospital Friday. She had been visiting at the homes of her sons at Pensacola, Fla., and Robertsdale, Ala.

She was born April 30, 1906, on a farm south of Grinnell, the daughter of Harry and Ruby Pugh Gillespie. She attended the Westfield and Chester rural schools near Grinnell and later attended Grinnell High School.

On March 7, 1925, she was united in marriage with Marion Krumm at the Pugh family home in Grinnell. To this union were born nine children - - - Mrs. James (Elizabeth) McIntosh of Stafford, Va.; Margueretta Krumm who died in infancy; Lawrence Krumm of San Rafael, Calif.; Harvey Krumm of Robertsdale, Ala.; Wesley Krumm of Gibson, Ia.; Claude Krumm of Keswick, Ia.; Mrs. James (Virginia) Van Patten of Des Moines; Keith Krumm of Pensacola, Fla.; and Mrs. Barry (Barbara) Buckley of San Jose, Calif.

In addition to her eight surviving children she is survived by her husband; her father, Harry Gillespie of Port Angeles, Wash.; a brother, Ithel Gillespie of Newburg; two sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Ada) Tychsen of Marshalltown and Mrs. Lloyd (Doris) Phipps of Port Angeles; and 36 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, her daughter Marguretta, and her sister Mrs. Basil (Esther) Arment.

She and her husband lived in and around Grinnell until 1949, when they moved to Gibson to make their home. Two years ago they returned to Grinnell to make their home at 308 Main St. Mrs. Krumm was a member of the United Presbyterian Church Ladies Aid at Gibson. While in the Grinnell area she had attended the Westfield church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Krumm were held at 2 p.m. today (Monday) at the Smith Funeral Home with Mr. Harry M. Reynolds, pastor of the Westfield Church officiating. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Willard Heffner.

Casket bearers were James Peak, Harold Pearce, Orville Hafkey, Gerald Arment, Kenneth Keenan and Ted Tychsen. Burial was in the family lot in Westfield Cemetery southwest of Grinnell.
