Death of Friedmann Klein
Klein, FriedmannFriedman Klein, one of the most prosperous and highly esteemed Germans of Mariposa Township, and a citizen of Jasper County for about forty years, died at his home twelve miles north of this city, about ten o’clock last Thursday evening. Mr. Klein’s age was about seventy years. He was born in Germany and when thirteen years of age came to America settling at Freeport, Ill. About forty years ago he came to Iowa and bought a tract of land in Mariposa Township in this county, then but a wild and unbroken prairie, began to make for himself a home, which his now one of the best farms in the county. Like a majority of our German citizens he worked hard, early and late, and was rewarded by financial success and died leaving not only a home and competence for his family, but a good name, which is worth more than gold.
He leaves an aged widow with whom he had traveled on life’s journey for over forty-three years. Also tow sons and four daughters, Friedmann, Jr. and Charles Klein, Mrs. Fred Feldschneider, Mrs. Frank Illingsworth, Mrs. Samuel Tinnemeier and Mrs. Thomas Hanthorn, all of this county and all of whom were with their aged father when he passed away.
Mr. Klein had been a member of the German Reform Church for many years. The funeral was held at 10 o’clock last Sunday, at the German Church near Horn, Rev. Kirchhafer officiating.
