Resided in Waukee, Iowa

Kenneth Ray Yeutsy, born on August 13, 1940, in Newton, Iowa, passed away in the early morning of November 25, 2019, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Ken had recently moved to Waukee, Iowa, after having lived with his family in Marshalltown, Iowa, and then later in Urbandale, Iowa.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents Donovan and Ruth (Toye) Yeutsy and a brother Doyle.

Ken is survived by his wife, Sharla Yeutsy; his brother Bob (Phyllis)Yeutsy; his children, Jonna (Kelly) Norlin and Matthew (Jo Lynn) Yeutsy; his seven grandchildren, Derek (Kristy) Shaver, Adam Shaver, Logan Shaver, Allyson Norlin, Brenna Yeutsy, Amber Yeutsy, Lydia Yeutsy; and two great-grandsons Owen and Kenny Shaver.

An active and committed man, Ken was never content with being idle. He was involved in various sports while growing up and later served as an officer in the United States Air Force for four years. While his career-choice was in insurance and later heating and air conditioning sales. Ken’s passions in life were his family and in serving others. Ken married the love of his life, Sharla, in 1963 and they had two children together, Jonna and Matthew. Ken was a dedicated father to his children, volunteering as a coach for their various teams, as well as opening up his home to any of his children’s friends or any animals that may have showed up at the house. Ken loved his seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons very much and looked forward to watching all of their activities.

Ken was actively involved in mission work through his church, Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He especially enjoyed attending Appalachia Service Project (ASP) for six years, helping to repair homes for those in need. Ken loved bird-watching, old cars, tools, and (dead) trees. He and Sharla also enjoyed traveling together in retirement.

Services will be held Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Urbandale, Iowa. A visitation will also be held on Friday, November 29th from 5:00-7:00 PM at Attivo Trail Lounge, 835 NE Boston Parkway Waukee, Iowa.

Donations can be given to Aldersgate Church to support its annual mission trip, Appalachia Service Project. ~ The Iles Funeral Home, Des Moines, Iowa 25 Nov 2019
