LILLIAN JANEWAY DIES SATURDAY, SERVICES MONDAY

Mrs. William Pern (Lillian) Janeway, 101, of Embassy Manor Nursing Home, a lifelong resident of Jasper County and who with her husband ran a dairy in Kellogg for more than 40 years, died Saturday morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held today at the Kellogg United Methodist Church. The Rev. Anna A. Estell, paster of the church conducted services. Burial was in the Center Friends Cemetery.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Roy (Eloise) Doane of Newton: four Grandchildren and Nine Great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William Feb. 7, 1957; a daughter Mozelle Higby in 1964; and a grandson Maynard Higby in 1944.

Mrs. Janeway, a member of the Kellogg United Methodist Church, had taught school in the Gilman and Monroe areas prior to her marriage.

The daughter of John D. and Mary F. Blachard Young, she was born December 30, 1879 in Newton and was graduated from Newton Community High School in 1896.

Mrs. Janeway, who was unable to attend graduation exercises, received her high school diploma 83 years later at the Embassy Manor where she made her home, following a Newton Alumni Association Continental Breakfast.

She was honored on the occasion of her 100th birthday at an open house held at the Embassy Manor.

She was married June 26, 1904 in the Monroe United Methodist Church.
