TACOMA, Wash. — Dorothy Reimer Goodwin, 90, of Tacoma, Wash., formerly of Kellogg, died Sunday, Dec. 30, in Tacoma.

A Celebration of Life will be held Jan. 19 at 1:30 p.m. in the Lillian Pratt Parlor at Franke Tobey Jones Retirement Estates in Tacoma, Wash. A graveside service will be held at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to charities of the donor's choice or to the Reimer Wildlife Refuge Fund, c/o Jasper County Conservation Board. Courthouse Annex. Newton 50208.

The daughter of George Frederick Reimer and Adah Julia Irish, she was born Dec. 11, 1911, in Kellogg. She attended Kellogg schools and graduated from Kellogg High School in 1929. She graduated from Northern Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Rapids in 1933. She taught sixth grade in Kellogg for a few years and then in Brooklyn until 1941. She also taught in Japan for a few years.

In 1941, she married George W. Goodwin. While her husband was in the United States Army, they lived in California, Japan, Germany and Washington. They settled in Tacoma, Wash. when he retired.

In 1982, as part of a project called "All My Somedays," Mrs. Goodwin wrote her autobiography called "One Iowan." A copy of this is available at the Kellogg Historical Museum.

She was active in the City Wide Garden Club in Tacoma for many years and made many award-winning floral arrangements. She moved to the Franke Tobey Jones Retirement Estates in October 1998, where she participated in the Bell Choir and numerous art classes.

Survivors include a niece, Judith Reimer Halblom and a nephew, James Reimer, both of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
