Obituary for Patricia Ann Gerke "Pat"
A Funeral Service for Pat Gerke was held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry with visitation starting one hour prior to the service. Pastor Charles Compton of the Perry Bible Church provided words of comfort. Recorded Elvis songs were selected. Following the service was a luncheon in the Hastings Funeral Home Lounge. Interment will take place at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Iowa.

Patricia Ann Gerke, daughter of Harold Wendell Wheeler and Wilma June Wood Wheeler, was born June 20, 1937 in Newton, Iowa and died October 5, 2019 at her home in Perry, Iowa at the age of 82. Pat attended school in Newton and graduated in 1957. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge in Newton. Pat was a dedicated advocate for the disabled and loved to "counsel anyone and everyone!" She lived in Texas for a few years before returning to Iowa. On April 5, 1975 Pat and Raymond Lee Gerke were united in marriage at the Baptist Church in Newton, Iowa. The couple moved to Perry, Iowa two years later. Pat enjoyed social media especially Facebook, reading and listening to books on tape. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond in 2012, brother Donald Wheeler in 2006 and niece Danette Wheeler in 1978. Pat is survived by her niece Dawna Ringgenberg (fiancé Matt McMillan) of Altoona, IA; great-niece Danette Wells (Phil) of Kellogg, IA; great-great-nephews Markus and Malakai; great-great-niece Makenlee; friend Diana Treft of Perry, IA ; other relatives and many friends.
