Emma C. Engle Dies Early Today; Services Pending

Mrs. James (Emma Christina) Engle, 77, of 101 E 10th St. S., died this morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions to the Heart Fund will be accepted.

Mrs. Engle is survived by a son, Glenn of Newton; four daughters, Miss Carrie Engle and Miss Mamie Engle of Newton, Mrs. Alvin (Geneva) Tinnermeier of Baxter and Mrs. J.A. (Emma) Rombaugh of Salem, Ore., nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Hilma Dammeier and Mrs. Homer Clement, both of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James in 1960; two daughters, two sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Engle was a member of the Lutheran Church.

The daughter of Swanson and Emma Anderson Lind, she was born Oct. 17, 1886 in Jasper County near Metz. She was educated in Jasper County Schools, She was married to James Engle March 3, 1902 at Mitchellville. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa, April 13, 1964.
