Carrie I. Engle Dies at Hospital; Rites Saturday

Miss Carrie I. Engle, 61, of 101 E. 10 St. S., a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died at 1:40 a.m. today at the Skiff memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Chapel.

The Rev. Arthur V. Long, minister of the First Methodist Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Sugar Grove Cemetery. Miss Engle will lie in state at Johnson Chapel after 6 p.m. today.

She is survived by three sisters, Miss Mamie Engle of Newton, Mrs. Alvin (Geneva) Tinnermeier of Baxter and Mrs. J. A. (Emma) Rombaugh of Salem, Ore.; a brother, Glenn Engle of Newton, and nieces and nephews.

Miss Engle was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Newton. She was a supervisor in the sample department of the Newton Manufacturing Company.

The daughter of James and Emma Lind Engle, she was born Jan 26, 1903 in Metz community southwest of Newton. ~ Newton Daily News March 18, 1974
