Dennis passed away on Wednesday morning, October 2, 2019, at his home in Newton

A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be 2:30 p.m., Monday, October 7, 2019, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, who are entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation will be an hour prior to the services, 1 p.m. until 2:15 p.m.. Burial will be in the St. John’s Cemetery in rural Newton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to HOPE Ministries, Newton Christian Reformed Church or to a charity of your choosing.

Dennis Lloyd Schnathorst, 75, the son of Lloyd August and Wilma Irene (Buckles) Schnathorst, was born November 1, 1943, in Newton. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High School, Class of 1963. He attended college at North West Missouri State. He had served his country during the Vietnam War, with the US Army, as a Green Beret.

On January 15, 1971, Dennis was united in marriage to Greta K. Moes in Sully. He was employed by Midwest Manufacturing in Kellogg in the maintenance department, retiring in 2009. He was a member of Newton Christian Reformed Church. He enjoyed the outdoors and all sports, devoting his life to his family as a loving husband and father.

Dennis is survived by his wife Greta; his sons: Ryan D. of Bondurant and Bradley D. of Iowa City; his Sisters and Brothers: Jerald Schnathorst, Janice (Curt) Barber, David (Pam) Schnathorst, Patricia (Terry) Otto and Carol |(Denny) Petty;
and his many good neighbors and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law Sandra Schnathorst.
