Died

Myron, two and one half-year-old son of Mr. And Mrs. Elmer Emmack, of Metz died yesterday after an illness of thirty days. The little fellow was first taken with the measles, then the whooping cough and last pneumonia. The funeral occurs tomorrow at the Metz schoolhouse at 1:30. Rev. Clark will officiate.

The Reaper Death

Myron Burzell Emmack, only son of Elmer and Georgia Emmack, was born Feb 22, 1900 and died Aug 10, 1902 at 1:15 p.m. after an illness of five weeks. His death was caused by complication of the whooping-couch and capillary bronchitis.

Little Myron was generally acknowledged as being an unusually bright child and possessing characteristics which are indicative of a great and useful man.

He was a little friend to everybody, the idol of the community, the sunshine of the home and hence universally loved. Willing hands bore flowers of the most exquisite beauty and fragrance and contributed them in gracious remembrance of their sacred dead.

The little snow-white casket covered and surrounded by garlands of the most beautiful flowers and containing its sacred dead, sustains a remarkable relation to each other; the flowers, the snow-white casket, and its precious contents are all representatives of that highest attribute of Christian character, "Purity".

Little Myron bore his affliction with remarkable patience to the very last or with a patience which would be a credit to one elder in years.

The funeral service was preached by Rev. E.F. Clark, the United Brethren pastor of the Newton charge, after which the remains were conveyed to the Metz cemetery for interment, accompanied by a very large procession of mourning friends and relations.

Little Marion [sic-Myron] is indeed gone by not forgotten. The grief and extreme sorrow which was occasioned by his death has indeed broken and will nigh crushed the hearts of his parents, yet they are not alone in their sorrow for they receive the heart felt sympathy of the wide circle of friends and relatives both in and out side of their immediate family.

While the young sorrowing parents laid away their first born, the dearest object of their lives, in the cold ground, yet they entertain hopeful anticipations of again meeting little Myron in that land where there is no more sorrow nor weeping, and no more farewell tears are shed; but rather where Christ shall reign supreme and there it will be a perpetual peace.

CARDS OF THANKS

We extend our heart felt thanks to all the relatives and friends who have aided and so deeply sympathized with us in our recent bereavement. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Emmack. ~ The Newton Herald, August 16, 1902
