Evalyn Carlson Rites Scheduled Sunday Afternoon
MINGO – Funeral services for Mrs. Ray (Evalyn E.) Carlson, 86, of Mingo, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.
The Rev. Charles Luers, pastor of the Mingo United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Sams Cemetery near Mingo.
She died Thursday morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.
Surviving is a brother, John E. Sams of Mingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Carlson, a member of the church, served in the Army Nurses Corps in France during World War I.
The daughter of Alfred L. and Cordia Bayless Sams, she was graduated from Mingo Community High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing.
Mrs. Carlson was born April 3, 1893 in Jasper County.
