September 2, 1934 ~ September 19, 2019 (AGE 85)

Mary Ann’s funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the Newton Church Of The Way, 2306 S. 3rd Ave. E. in Newton.

The family will greet friends following the funeral service and burial with a lunch at the church.

Burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials in Mary Ann’s name, the memorials will be used for several projects that she wanted (please make checks payable to Judy Balbiani). The memorials may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home or at the church on the morning of the service. If you are mailing your memorial to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Dannen Family on the envelope.

Mary Ann Meacham Dannen, the daughter of Charles Milton and Dorothy Frances Smith Meacham was born on September 2, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a graduate of East High School in Des Moines with the Class of 1953.

On January 28, 1960, Mary Ann was united in marriage with Glenn D. Dannen at the Rising Sun Church of Christ in Rising Sun, Iowa. They were blessed with three children, Andy, Susan and Judy. Mary Ann worked at home as a homemaker and farmer’s wife. She had been a member of the Rising Sun Church of Christ and a member of the Newton Assembly of God Church. Mary Ann enjoyed baking bread and shared her skills with her family and friends.

She was always cooking and made sure no one ever went away hungry. Mary Ann loved being a farmer’s wife and loved the beauty of the country side in all of it’s seasonal beauty.

Mary Ann died on Thursday, September 19, 2019, surrounded by the love of her family at Park Centre in Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn Dannen in 2010; and sister, Laura Lee Brady.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Andy (Terry) Dannen of Newton, Susan (Mark) Hoffert of Newton and Judy (Eric) Balbiani of Ames; grandchildren, Amy (Steve) Wadstrom, Ryan (Shannon) Dannen, Sabrina (Scott) Smead, Samantha (Calvin) Jutting, Tyler (Katlyn) Balbiani, Brandon (Carolyn) Balbiani and Jordon Balbiani; her great-grandchildren, Taryn, Bennett and Josie Wadstrom, Karter, Gavin, Max and Luke Smead, Landon Klosterboer and Liberty Jutting, Emmett and Collins Balbiani and Drake, Nash and Hayes Balbiani; siblings, Beverly Patterson of Rising Sun, Fran (Bob) Miller of Pleasantville and Michael Meacham of Lincoln, Nebraska; and her many nieces and nephews. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 19 Sept 2019.
