HUMESTON — Norris E. Deeter, 67, of Humeston, formerly of Mingo, died Saturday, Nov. 24, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be Wednesday at the United Church of Ira at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Lowell Houts officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery in Baxter. Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter is handling arrangements. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home where family will be available from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the American Cancer Society.

The son of Louis and Margaret Pauline Kramm Deeter, he was born Jan. 15, 1934, in Mingo. He graduated from Mingo High School. He was married to Patricia Allread on July 5, 1983, in Newton. He retired from the Maytag Corporation in 1992, after 36 years of service. He retired as a Sergeant in the Iowa Army National Guard in 1997 and was a member of the UAW.

Survivors include his wife, four daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Leon Nazworthy of St. Charles, Diane and Mark Hudson of Ankeny, Kathy and Derek Preminger of Des Moines and Tina and Dan Ehler of Newton, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Scott and Tammy of Rock Creek and Todd of Baxter, a brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Betty of Mingo; 17 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and an infant brother.
