Funeral Services Conducted Sunday Afternoon From Bumgardner Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Robert Dawson, 79, pioneer resident of Colfax, died Thursday, April 4th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Iden Scarbrough, at De Kalb, Ill., following a short illness.

Chloe C. Cole was born on May 16, 1866, in the home of her parents, J. B. Cole and his wife Matilda, on their farm in Jasper County. Her early girlhood was spent in this vicinity. While visiting her sister in Kansas, she met Robert Dawson to whom she was married at Ft. Scott, Kansas, on June 20, 1884. To this union were born four children; Nell D. Stouffer of Colfax, Leona Scarbrough of De Kalb, Illinois, Mable B. Gould deceased, and Robert Arthur, who died in infancy.

She returned to Jasper County in 1894 and spent the majority of the time since here. About eighteen months ago she went to her daughter's home in De Kalb, Illinois, where she remained until she became ill on Tuesday, April second. She was removed at once to the hospital but passed away after her brief illness.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Nell Stouffer and Mrs. Leona Scarbrough, one sister, Mrs. L. R. Shepherd of Los Angeles, nine grandchildren and five great granddaughters.

Her main interests in life were her home and her church. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother.

She was for many years a leader in the Dorcas Society of the Christian Church and was president of it for several terms of office.

Her life has left a lasting impression not only in her family but also upon the church and community of which she was apart. Funeral services were conducted from the Cutter-Hartnett-Bumgardner Funeral Chapel Sunday afternoon. with Rev. A. A. Burr of North English, Ia., a former pastor officiating, assisted by the Rev. W. R. Leeds, pastor of the Colfax Christian Church.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Earl Plummer and Mr. George Rinker.

Pall bearers were: George Weirick Paul Monroe, Howard Bell, Curtis Aikin, Carroll Acton and Walt Ryan.

Flower committee: Mrs. George Weirick and Mrs. L. H. Burton.

Burial was had in the McKeever Cemetery.
