Anna Marie Braaksma
1953 - 2019

Anna Marie Benac Braaksma, 65, passed away from cancer on September 17, 2019. Born and raised in Newton, Iowa, November 9, 1953, to Vincent and Leola Benac, Anna was well known and beloved by many in the community.

Anna was the second of four siblings. Wayne (Linda) Benac, Carolyn (Don) Little and her baby sister, Teresa (Les) Morgan. They provided her with her many nieces and nephews. The siblings remained close throughout their lives and laughed the most and hardest when they were together. She is survived by all three and was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; her parents and her paternal and maternal grandparents. Anna always worked extremely hard, providing and caring for her own four children, Sara, Gina, Joshua (Camielle) and Justin.

Following a divorce from Gary Schippers, Anna married again to Charles DeWayne Braaksma. Chuck and Anna spent many years together, often going fishing and for long drives in the country.

Saying Anna was a hard worker is a grand understatement. After many years as a customer favorite at Palma's, she worked tirelessly for Iowa's Best burger Café. There, she was extremely popular with customers and the most loyal employee. Anna didn't give herself much spare time, but when she did, she loved reading books in the sun as her kids swam in the local lakes. She spent hours, on her rare days off, tending to her flower gardens. She enjoyed cookouts with friends and family dinners. She adored each of her grandchildren and was blessed with many. They include Jerney, Megan and Rayna, Christian, Vianna, Sofia and Riley, Olivia, Mackenzie and Jacob.

Anna will be remembered for being sassy and feisty. For her sharp wit and snappy tongue. She loved and forgave harder than anyone we've ever know. However you knew Anna Banana, she left a lasting impression and her loss will affect all who knew her.

A private family committal has been held and a public celebration of life service will be scheduled at a later date. ~ The Pence Reese Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 17 Sept 2019.
