Mary Poole
October 19, 1936 - July 8, 2019

Mary Ellen Bibens was the daughter of Harry and Lillian (Ulery) Bibens. She was born on October 19, 1936, in Hillsdale, Kansas. Mary graduated from De Soto High School in De Soto, Kansas. On February 21, 1970, she was united in marriage with Donald Harry Poole at the United Methodist Church in West Chicago, Illinois. To this union one daughter was born, Casey Carolina. Following their marriage Mary and Don moved to the Killduff-Sully, Iowa area. In 1977 they moved to Pella, Iowa. Both Mary and Don were employed with the Rolscreen Company in Pella. Don retired in 1988 just prior to his death on September 24, 1988 at the age of 61 years. Mary continued working there until her retirement in 1998. Mary was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed reading. Following her retirement her time was well spent spending time with her grandchildren. On July 8, 2019, she passed away at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella at the age of 82 years. Mary is survived by her daughter, Casey Poole and Eric Doty and their family: Delaney, Keegan, Orryn, Shane, Shana, Nolan, Zack, Darria, Dionna, Denicia and seven great-grandchildren of whom she was very proud. She leaves six sisters and a brother of her original family: Margaret Owens of Newton, Iowa, Marie Patterson of Butler, Missouri, Louise Craddock of Marshalltown, Iowa, Dorothy and her husband, Pete Yeager of Louisburg, Kansas, Andy Bibens and his wife, Debbie, of Joplin, Missouri, Stella and her husband, Dennis Devin of Quenemo, Kansas, Shirley Kiefer of Quenemo, Kansas; and sisters-in-law: Judy (Charles) Bibens of Pomona, Kansas, Charlotte (George) Bibens of Springfield, Missouri, Dolores (Sonny) Poole of Pownal, Vermont and Arlene (Poole) Clark of Torrington, Connecticut. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Poole; her father, Harry Bibens and her mother, Lillian Prettyman, her step-father, Arthur Prettyman; her sister, Elaine Musser, two siblings, Bill Bibens and Irene Bibens who both died in infancy, two brothers: Charles Bibens and George Bibens; her parents-in-law, Thomas and Gladys (White) Poole, and step-father-in-law, Joseph LaPlante.

Graveside Committal Service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 10:00 am,
Oakwood Cemetery, Pella, Iowa.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm
Friday at Van Dyk - Duven Funeral Home.
