DR. RICHARD PAUL KOENEN

HAMPTON - Dr. Richard Paul Koenen, 69, of Hampton died Sunday (Sept. 10, 2000) at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hampton, with the Rev. Wayne Dobratz officiating. Burial will be in Hampton Cemetery, Hampton.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton.

Richard Paul Koenen was born Dec. 19, 1930, to Harm J. and Louise (Sahr) Koenen. He graduated from Franklin Consolidated High School in 1950. He served his country in the United States Marines Corps during the Korean War.

He married Mary Jane Pralle on Nov. 27, 1954, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer. He attended Palmer College of Chiropractic receiving his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1958. He since has practiced in Alabama, Louisiana and Iowa, the last 27 years serving the people of Hampton and the surrounding communities. He was very dedicated to his profession and enjoyed helping his patients. He was also very mechanical and spent many hours in the garage "fixing." He was a great motivator and supporter of his children and grandchildren, especially enjoying their sports and musical activities. He was baptized at Zion Reformed Church in rural Sheffield, was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and was a member of the American Legion.

Living members of his family are his wife, Mary Jane; six children, Dr. Jack Koenen of Forest City, Dr. Jeane Koenen of Atchison, Kan., Jane and Dan Allen of Newton, Dr. James and Pam Koenen of Hampton, Dr. Jeffrey Koenen of Des Moines, and Dr. Jay Koenen of Newton; two brothers, Maynard and his wife, Marilyn Koenen; and Dr. Leonard and wife, Shirley Koenen; and six grandchildren, Travis and Tara Allen, Emily and Evan Koenen, and Alexis and Samantha Koenen,

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister. ~ The Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton, Iowa 10 Sept 2000.
