Russell Briggs
January 29, 1947 - July 22, 2019

Russ Briggs went to be with the Lord on the morning of July 22nd 2019. He was 72 years old. Husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him. Russ was a very kind hearted man, always ready to give someone a helping hand (sometimes even if they didn't need one). He was always there for his family, ready to share some wisdom and the occasional joke. He was a good dad and grandpa. Russ loved animals, especially his dogs and horses. Often you could find him at his store tinkering with his horse tack or fishing tackle, with a little dog following him around. Whenever Russ wasn't hard at work, he would take his wife Patty to garage sales or auctions. Though he would sometimes sit in the car. But that's the kind of man Russ was. It wasn't the garage sales he enjoyed so much as it was making his sweet wife happy. Russ has worked as the fire chief of Delaware Township, a Polk county deputy sheriff reserve, he sold real estate, and finally retired from the City of Tampa. While Russ wasn't a "religious" guy, he did know Jesus. If I had to sum up Russ Briggs in a sentence or two, this is what I would say, "Russ is kind hearted and genuine. What you saw is what you got. Very much in love with his wife and granddaughter. He really cared about people." Russ will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
