Obituary – George Riley Curry, son of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Curry, was born in Jasper County, Iowa, September 9, 1882, and died February 17, 1902, aged nineteen years, six months and eight days. George grew to manhood in this country getting his education in the country school. He lived at home except when he was working out.
It was a severe blow to his parents and friends when the word came “George is shot,” as he was away from home at the time of his death. But he is not dead; he only sleeps to wake in the better world.
His ambition was to help someone and with this thought he was always seeking some way in which he might bring cheer into some life. Among his friends there was no rudeness, but always a considerateness that wins the heart and love of every one. He will be sadly missed, but nowhere as in the family circle. He leaves to mourn his loss a father, mother, six brothers and six sisters who were all present at the funeral except Susie, now Mrs. Meckley.
The funeral services were held at Bear Grove School house, Tuesday at two o’clock conducted by his pastor. And his remains were laid to rest in the Rorabaugh Cemetery.
