Gerry Trier

Ankeny - Gerry (Schmitz) Trier, 88, of Ankeny, passed away June 30, 2019, at St. Francis Manor.

Gerry's lifelong love of children led to a teaching career, teaching at many Southeast Iowa elementary schools, running her own preschool and serving the community as a daycare provider. Gerry had many accomplishments throughout her life, such as serving as the first female president of the Prairie City School Board and serving on the Prairie City City Council. Gerry was always willing to donate her time and talents to many causes including the American Legion Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters of America.

However, her family was her greatest accomplishment, which includes: son, Mick (Angela); grandsons Justin, Jared and Joshua all of Ankeny. She is preceded in death by her son Tim Trier.

Gerry has always been a private person and per her wishes there will not be a service. We will always carry her memory in our hearts. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register 03 July, 2019.
