MONROE -- George W. Beaver, 72, of Monroe died Sunday, April 11,[2004] at Nelson Manor in Newton.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold Koughn officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Miriam Cemetery in Bethany, Mo.

Visitation will be held today after 3 p.m. at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the George W. Beaver Memorial Fund.

The son of Thomas and Fannie (Avery) Beaver, he was born April 6, 1932, in St. Joseph, Mo. He worked for Manatt's in Newton and as a truck driver. He moved to Monroe in 1979 and was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church.

He is survived by three daughters, Sandy Beaver and Pam Merical of Earlam and Heidi Beaver of Des Moines; a son, Jim Beaver, of St. Joseph's, Mo.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lou Miller of New Hampton; and a special friend, Judy Jenkens of Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Mehaley June; a sister, Charolette; a brother, Jim Beaver; and two half-brothers, Bob Ingersal and Junior Crossfield. ~ Newton Daily News, Tuesday, April 13, 2004
