Allan Van Wyk, 71, of Searsboro died Sept. 30, 2018, at his home on the farm near Lynnville. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Lynnville Friends Church FCC Building with family present from 4 -7 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lynnville Friends Church. Burial will be in Sully Cemetery. Memorials have been designated for On With Life in Ankeny, Lynnville Friends Church, or Diamond Trail Daycare in Lynnville.
Allan Eugene Van Wyk was born Sept. 4, 1947, to Raymond A. and Johanna (Harsselaar) Van Wyk in Oskaloosa.
Allan, or “Crazy Horse” as his friends called him, attended Sully Christian School. Nov. 16, 1965, he was united in marriage to Marsha Castorf in Sully. They were blessed with two sons, Scott and Bradley. When Allan and Marsha were first married, they farmed with his dad. In 1969, they moved to Prairie City, farmed, started his tiling and dozing business, and started trucking. They later purchased the farm and continued farming, trucking, and tiling. In 2000, they moved to Searsboro where they continued farming both places, trucking, and tiling.
Allan was so proud of his sons and grandson who helped him with all farm work and trucking. Allan Scott “Buddy” Van Wyk is continuing the trucking business and the farming operation.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Marsha, son Bradley Van Wyk of Grinnell, sisters Connie Vos and Linda Huyser, grandson Allan Scott (Renee) Van Wyk, great- grandsons Waylon and Cash Van Wyk, and granddaughter Victoria Collins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Scott, and his brothers: Marvin, Jerry in infancy, and Kevin Van Wyk.
