Kelley C. Cawood, 78, of Normal, IL, died at 9:18 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at his home.

Kelley C. Cawood, 78, of Normal, IL, died at 9:18 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, IL, where visitation will be one hour prior to services. Pastor Stephanie Soon will officiate. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington, IL following services. To express condolences online, please visit www.carmodyflynn.com .

In lieu of flowers, memorials the American Cancer Society may be left at or mailed to Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, 1800 Eastland Drive, Bloomington, IL 61704.

He was born October 15, 1935, in Linneus, MO, son of Lloyd and Beryl Kelley Cawood. He married Lynne Caldwell on September 7, 1957, she preceded him in death on November 10, 1988. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Carol Lee Shanker.

Surviving are four children, David (Lori) Cawood and Kenneth (Angie) Cawood, both of Bloomington, IL, Linda Maass of Apex, NC and Don (Peggy) Wemhoner of Peoria, AZ. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Lindsay Rhoades, Justin and Brandon Cawood, Heather and Ashley Cawood, Matt (Veronica) Anderson, Tara (Gabe) Stubblefield, Suzanna, Katie and Josh Maass and Mike (Daneci), Lindsey and Valerie Wemhoner; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Ann Guy of Little Rock, Ark and one brother, Harry (Dee) Cawood of Mesa, AZ.

Kelley attended High School in Linneus, MO and he completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Northeastern Missouri State University, Kirksville, MO, where he received his Master’s Degree in Education. He first worked as a teacher of High School History in the St. Louis, MO area. In 1961, he began working for State Farm Insurance Company in St. Louis and in 1968 transferred to Bloomington, IL He retired from State Farm after 35 years as a Human Resources Consultant in 1996.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Normal, IL, where he was also a former Sunday School teacher for many years.

Kelley was a history enthusiast, especially ancient and biblical history. His interest in history encouraged his travel to many places over the years, including China, Eqypt, Spain, Ireland and Italy. ~ The Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, IL Wed 30 Oct 2013.
