Stroke Fatal to W. F. Yost, 69
Newton Resident Dies Wednesday; To Hold Rites Friday Night
William F. Yost, 69, 319 West Second Street South, died Wednesday at 4:50 p.m. as the result of a stroke of apoplexy.
Mr. Yost died at the Jasper county home, where he had been cared for since Aug. 19, 1936. He had been in poor health for some time and had suffered several strokes.
Services will be conducted from the Murdoch funeral home Friday at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel E. Buser, pastor of the Foursquare Gospel church, delivering the funeral sermon. Burial will be at Bluegrass, Ia., Saturday.
It was requested by Mr. Yost that the Odd Fellows have charge of the services and local members are to meet at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the hall to attend the rites in a body.
Mr. Yost, former local factory employee, had lived in Newton for a number of years.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Ella Yost; a son, Fredrick W. Yost of Chicago, and a daughter, Mrs. Cecyle Crosby of Des Moines.

Conduct Yost Funeral Rites
Services Held in Newton Friday Night; Burial at Blue Grass Today
Funeral services for W. F. Yost, 69, were conducted from the Murdoch funeral home Friday at 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Daniel E. Buser, pastor of the Foursquare Gospel church, assisted by the Newton I.O.O.F. lodge.
Music for the rites included a duet number, “Good Night and Good Morning,” by Mrs. Buser and Mrs. Mabel Maixner and a vocal solo, “The Last Mile of the Way,” by Mrs. Buser. Mrs. Sidney Land played the accompaniment for the songs and Lois Hundling furnished organ music.
Burial at Blue Grass
The body was taken to Blue Grass, Ia. today for burial. Pallbearers were Frank Baldwin, Tom Crosby, R. L. Crosby, Philip Scharf, Alva Baker and Jess Demory.
Mr. Yost died Wednesday afternoon as the result of a stroke of apoplexy.
William Frederick Yost was born Nov. 11, 1867, at Blue Grass, Ia., the son of Frederick and Wilhelmina Yost. He came to Newton 45 years ago.
In 1891, he was united in marriage to Anna Eichnor, who preceded him in death. One son, Frederick William Yost, now of Chicago, was born to this union.
Marriage in 1904
In 1904, he was married to Ella Bewyer, who survives.
He was a member of the Congregational church, the Odd Fellows lodge and Margaret Rebekah lodge. He was an Odd Fellow for 45 years.
Surviving relatives include his wife and son, two granddaughters, Donita Jeanne and Bonnie Beth Yost; a step-daughter, Mrs. Cecyle Crosby of Des Moines, and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Grieser of Anamosa, Mrs. Milly Angstrom of Moline, Ill., Mrs. Sadie Pentico of Colfax and Mrs. Lenora Twigg of Lima, O. Three sisters preceded him in death.
