Mrs. Schaumberg Dies at 65 Years
Life-Long Resident of Jasper County Dies Sunday Morning
Mrs. William Schaumberg, 65, 123 West Ninth Street South, died Sunday about 8:00 a.m. at the Skiff Memorial hospital following several months serious illness.
Mrs. Schaumberg had been in poor health for several years and became seriously ill about four months ago. Death was due to a malignant disease.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. from the Methodist Episcopal church by Dr. Leslie B. Logan, pastor. Interment will be in the Newton Union cemetery.
A life-long resident of Jasper county, Margaret Shields Schaumberg was born on a farm north of Newton, Nov. 13, 1871, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Shields.
She grew to womanhood on that farm, remaining there until her marriage March 1, 1900, to William Schaumberg. They have since resided in Newton, and have been located in the present home 28 years.
Mrs. Schaumberg was an active member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
Surviving relatives are her husband; five sons, Vernon, Irving, Francis and Durland Schaumberg, all of Newton, and Leslie Schaumberg of Rock Island, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Malinda Hufendick of Des Moines; three grandchildren; three brothers, S. F. Shields, of Chicago, T. O. Shields of Bucyrus, N.D., and W. O. Shields of Shedd, Ore., and a sister, Mrs. C. W. Garrison of Shedd, Ore.

Hold Rites For Mrs. Schaumberg
Funeral Services Conducted At Methodist Episcopal Church Tuesday
Funeral services for Mrs. William Schaumberg, 65, life-long resident of Jasper county, were conducted from the Newton Methodist Episcopal church Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. by Dr. Leslie B. Logan, pastor.
Mrs. Logan furnished the music singing, “Home of the Soul” and “Jesus Lover of My Soul.” Mrs. R. L. Jackson played the accompaniment.
Interment was in the Newton Union cemetery, with the following serving as pall bearers: William Lama, Thomas Toye, Harry Upton, William Riebe, Harry Carstens and Glen Walker.
Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Ross Starrett, Mrs. C. E. May, Mrs. H. B. Lufkin and Mrs. M. N. Ross.
Mrs. Schaumberg died Sunday morning at the Skiff Memorial hospital as the result of a lingering illness.
