Patricia Jo Doyel, 56, of Newton died Saturday, Aug. 14, at her home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in her name, United Cerebral Palsy Association or to the Ronald McDonald House and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Earl Kenneth and Josephine (Baze) Gragg, she was born Jan. 9, 1948, in Newton. She lived in Newton all but seven years when she lived in Des Moines. On June 26, 1999, she married John Doyel in Kellogg. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1655 Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, flowers and her pets.

Survivors include her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, Max E. Huffaker Jr. and Felicia of Brooklyn; two daughters, Melissa Huffaker and Sheri Peterson, both of Newton; 11 grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Marilyn Gragg of Mitchellville; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Darrell Montgomery of Newton; brother-in-law, John "Bill" Jenkins of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lee Roy Gragg; three sisters, Mary Margaret Gragg in infancy, Shirley Sager and Leitha M. Jenkins; and a niece and a nephew. ~ Newton (Iowa)Daily News, Monday, August 16, 2004
