Anthony Todd Hickey, 49, passed away suddenly after a short illness on Sunday, January 21, 2018, in Des Moines, IA. Services will be held 3 pm Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Grandview Park Funeral Home.

Todd was born December 6, 1968, in Newton, IA, to William and Kristy (Skow) Hickey. He married Kassie (Irwin) Hickey on September 3, 2016.

He worked as a car salesman for over 23 years, most recently at Car City West.

Todd loved spending time with his nephew Cole. He loved to watch his son, Alex, play club baseball for the University of Iowa. And spent endless hours playing Nerf Wars with his son, Carson. On his day off, Todd loved to golf, spending his day working on yard work, or being on Ginger and Dave’s deck with friends and family. He also enjoyed spending time with and never letting go of his lifelong school friends.

Todd never met a stranger, he instantly made you feel like an old friend that would do anything for you and often did.

He was a huge sports fanatic. He truly loved the Chicago Cubs, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

He graduated from East High School in 1987. While at East, he played football, baseball, and was a wrestler. He also participated in Swing Choir and was in a singing quartet that performed in local venues as “The New Arrivals”.

Todd was proud of his Irish heritage and of being a true East Sider.

Todd is survived by his wife, Kassie Hickey; stepmother, Sherry (Jerry) Swertfager of West Des Moines, IA; mother, Kris Quick of Mercer Island, WA; siblings, Ginger (Dave) Clark of West Des Moines, IA, Angela (Troy) Houseworth of North Bend, WA, Natalie (Nabil Benal) Quick of Mercer Island, WA, and John (Heidi) Quick of Kenai, AK; stepsons, Brad Underwood of Austin, TX, Alex Underwood of Iowa City, IA, and Carson Underwood of Des Moines, IA; nephew, Cole Clark; niece, Natalie Clark; mother in law, Kathy (Marshall) Irwin of Des Moines, IA; aunt and uncles, Denny Hickey of Newton, IA, Dianna Diehm of Des Moines, IA, and Mike (Sally) Farney of Las Vegas, NV; as well as many other loved relatives and family.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Francis Hickey; grandparents; uncle, Mike Diehm; cousin Brad Diehm; and stepdaughter, Nicole Underwood.
